This is the original blog I did to accompany my 'lift going up' project!

11TH FEBUARY

Well yesterday I started doing my 'Making & Meaning' brief. I chose the first question regarding complexity -

"Things are only as complex as the complexity of their analysis"

Something I wrote in my sketch book regarding that was "what can a detailed picture do what a quick sketch cannot? A detailed picture couldnt capture the innocence and bold strokes of a childs drawing. And a quick sketch cannot justify a grand potrait, or compare to the Mona Lisa? Surely you appreciate the detail, the pain staking effort and the time...?"

So the first idea that popped into my head was how ridiculously complex the universe is, in terms of all the billions and billions of stars, planets, the face its still expanding and how tiny we are.. and explaining that in a picture.

Today and yesterday I've just been playing around with materials to pull this off with. Thinking about doing it on the computer...

17TH MARCH

Its taken me long enough to get where I was. And since the last post things have changed dramaticly. Dramaticly for the best though.
I think I finally understand what I have to do in projects in order to make an interesting piece of illustration, and it revolves around one thing
The statement. What is your work saying? It should be a "what if... this happend" and "this is amazing"

...This all ties into my Making and Meaning brief. My work now has a statement.

I've ditched the "complexity" question, for "lift going up", and expanded on that.
